On January 10-14, 2018, Gulden Ashkenova, Master of Social Sciences, researcher at the Public Opinion Research Institute, took part in the data visualization workshop "Vsyoyasno! 2018" for authors of sociological research and creative professionals from Eastern Europe and Central Asia, which was held in Prague (Czech Republic).
February 16, 2018 Botagoz Rakisheva gave a lecture "Sociology: profession or lifestyle" in front of students and teachers of School of Humanities and Social Sciences at Nazarbayev University, where she talked about the sociologist profession, research projects, and the results of sociological studies conducted among Central Asian youth as part of Project of F. Ebert Foundation "Youth of Central Asia", conducted by the Public Opinion Research Institute.
On February 20, 2018, the Public Opinion Research Institute and the Department of Central Asian Studies of Hankuk University (Seoul, South Korea) held a scientific seminar "Kazakh-Korean Relations: An Expert Look" which presented the results of the sociological study "Image of South Korea in Kazakhstan: public opinion", conducted by the Public Opinion Research Institute. The seminar was attended by South Korean and Kazakhstani experts, employees of the Embassy of South Korea in Kazakhstan, doctoral students and undergraduates of L.N. Gumilyov ENU.

On February 22-23, 2018, the international conference "25th Anniversary of the European Union-Central Asia Relations: from the Past to the Future" organized by the Delegation of the European Union to Kazakhstan was held in Astana. The event brought together more than 150 participants from the EU and Central Asia, including representatives of the diplomatic corps, the expert community, opinion leaders, civil society, business associations, international organizations and the media. At the conference, Botagoz Rakisheva made a report "Public Perception of the European Union in Central Asia," where she showed the attitude of the population towards the European Union according to the results of opinion polls.
On February 27, 2018, the Minister of Religious Affairs and Civil Society of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Nurlan Yermekbayev, met with the expert community. The event was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Civil Society, the head of the Sacral Kazakhstan Research Center Berik Abdigaligli, director of the Institute of State History of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan Burkitbay Ayagan, director of the Public Opinion Research Institute Botagoz Rakisheva, director of the Scientific and Educational Foundation Publishing House Aspandau Radik Temirgaliev, Director of "Youth" SRC, Talgat Kaliev. During the meeting, participants discussed issues related to the value system of modern Kazakhstani youth. According to the minister, the formation of values is not a static, but a complex mechanism that needs constant adaptation to the rapidly changing reality.
On March 4, 2018, a theoretical seminar was held in Almaty and Astana as part of the preparation of the project methodology for the study of the value system of the F. Ebert Foundation. Members of the Working Group gathered to discuss the main theories and concepts for the study of values at the offices of the F. Ebert Foundation in Almaty and the Public Opinion Research Institute in Astana.

the book "Youth of Central Asia. Comparative review" was published. Under the scientific supervision of prof. Klaus Hurrelmann and Peer Teschendorf (Germany, Berlin). Review Author: Botagoz Rakisheva. This publication was prepared based on the results of the inter-country sociological study "Youth of Central Asia", commissioned by the Representative Office of the Friedrich Ebert Fundation in Kazakhstan prepared by the Public Opinion Research Institute (Astana, Kazakhstan). Sociological research in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan was conducted in 2014-2015. Youth surveys were conducted according to a unified methodology, 1000 respondents from 14 to 29 years old, focus groups and in-depth interviews were conducted as well. Sociological research was based on the methodology of the German research project Shell Youth Study, conducted in Germany since 1953. Scientific consultants of the project: Professor Klaus Hurrelmann, one of the founders of Shell Youth Study and Peer Teschendorf, head of the Representative Office of the F. Ebert Foundation (2012-2016).
The research methodology is based on the application of international standards when choosing a survey methodology and conducting research. The research questionnaire was based on a basic questionnaire adapted for each country studied; a joint briefing was conducted with researchers from four countries. A survey was conducted in each country by regional supervisors.
According to the results of a sociological study, four books were published, for each country, prepared by national experts.
This comparative publication presents the main results of a sociological study conducted in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

On April 18-19, Botagoz Rakisheva took part in the VIII Grushinsky sociological conference organized by the VCIOM and the Foundation for Assistance to Public Opinion Studies (Moscow, Russian Federation). At the special partnership section "Northern Eurasia as a Social Space: The Sociological Dimension of Diversity and Integration", organized by the "Eurasian Monitor" International Research Agency with the participation of the Institute for Social and Political Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Botagoz Rakisheva, co-director of the Public Opinion Research Institute presented the results of a comparative sociological study commissioned by the F. Ebert Foundation "Central Asian Youth": some results of a comparative sociological survey conducted in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan".

On May 10, 2018 - Botagoz Rakisheva took part in the Eighth International Seminar "Current Status and Future Direction of Social Policy in South Korea and Eurasia", organized by the Korea Institute for Social Policy and the Department of Central Asian Studies, Hankuk University in Seoul (South Korea). On May 29, 2018 Public Opinion Research Institute and the World Values Survey (Austria, Vienna) held a Scientific Seminar The World Values Survey (1981-2018): Exploring the Cultural Change. Organization, History, Findings. The meeting was held in Russian. World Values Survey is the world's largest international scientific program and research network in the field of sociology and social sciences in general, as well as a project to study value systems and change values in particular. Prof. Christian W Haerpfer is a professor of political science and political sociology at the Institute of Political Science, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Vienna (Austria). In 2017-2018 Christian W Haerpfer is also a Visiting Professor of Sociology at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of the United Arab Emirates in Al Ain (UAE). As the "Representative for Liaison with Science Committees," Professor Haerpfer has been a member of the Executive Committee of the International Political Science Association (IPSA) in Montreal, Canada, since 2016. He coordinates the activities of all 50 IPSA research committees in terms of global research in political science and political sociology. Professor Haerpfer is the founder of the IPSA Research Committee No. 17, Comparative Public Opinion, since 2009. Professor Haerpfer is the director of the Institute for Comparative Social Research at ICSR, and the founder of the Eurasian Barometer in Vienna, Austria. The Eurasian Barometer, which analyzes social, economic and cultural changes in Eastern Europe (Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova), the Caucasus (Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan) and Central Asia (Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan) from 2000 to 2018.
Dr. Kseniya Kizilova has been Head of the Secretariat of the World Values Survey Association (Stockholm, Sweden) since 2013. As the Head of the WVSA Secretariat, Dr. Kizilova coordinates national polls in 80 countries of the world as part of the 7th wave "World Values" (2017-2019), and is also responsible for administration, communication, etc. activities of the WVSA association. Since 2015, Kseniya Kizilova has been Deputy Director of the Institute for Comparative Social Research in Vienna, Austria. In 2013, Kseniya Kizilova became deputy director of the international comparative research program "Eurasian Barometer", which analyzes social, economic and political changes in Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. As deputy director of the Eurasian Barometer, Kseniya Kizilova is a member of the Steering Committee of the Global Barometer Research Group (GBS), which runs a network of regional barometers that study socio-political processes in all regions of the world.

On May 31, 2018 in the framework of the International Conference "Judicial rhetoric: issues of practice and training", organized by the Supreme Court of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Representative Office of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation in Kazakhstan, Botagoz Rakisheva, Ph.D., presented some results of the sociological study "Legal Education in the Republic of Kazakhstan", commissioned by the F. Ebert Foundation with the support of the Academy of Law Enforcement Agencies under the General Prosecutor's Office.

On June 15, 2018, researchers at the Institute Botagoz Rakisheva and Ainur Mazhitova took part in the international conference "National Modernization Strategies: Achievements and Prospects", dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. On June 18, 2018 - Botagoz Rakisheva, Ph.D. in Sociology, co-director of the Public Opinion Research Institute, made a presentation TURKBAROMETER - 2017: the main results of a cross-country sociological study (Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Turkey, Uzbekistan) at the III Forum of the Humanities "Great Steppe" of the International Turkic Academy. The report presents the main results of the international sociological study "Turkbarometer" of the International Turkic Academy, conducted jointly with the Public Opinion Research Institute (Astana, Kazakhstan). The main goal of the research project is to measure a number of indicators of humanitarian cooperation of Turkic-speaking countries. The first wave of the survey was conducted in September-November 2017 in six capitals of the Turkic-speaking countries: Baku, Astana, Bishkek, Ashgabat, Ankara, Tashkent. Respondents are residents of the state-forming Turkic ethnic groups from 18 years of age and older. In each country, 500 respondents were interviewed. The total sample was 3,000 respondents. The survey in the countries was conducted by professional sociological organizations.
The main conclusions of the project are that residents of the cities of the studied countries have a positive attitude to the idea of developing cooperation between the countries of the Turkic-speaking world. For many respondents, Turkic peoples evoke fraternal feelings, and joint projects have positive assessments. The population of the Turkic-speaking countries is well informed about each other and welcomes the economic, scientific, technical, sports and cultural cooperation between the countries.
On August 24, 2018, the Republican seminar-training of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan "The role of mediation in ensuring the constitutional rights of citizens" was held. The event was attended by representatives of the Secretariat of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan, deputies of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, professional and public mediators, heads of mediation centers, representatives of the National Center for Human Rights, ministries, public organizations, courts, prosecutors, the "Nur Otan" party, and others. Director of the Public Opinion Research Institute, candidate of sociological sciences Botagoz Rakisheva in her speech "Possibilities of mediation in a multi-ethnic society" talked about the stages of the introduction of the mediation institute in the work of the APK, the special mediation schools for representatives of the APK and the prospects for mediation in a multi-ethnic society.
On September 14, 2018, Representation of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation in Kazakhstan together with the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan held a conference on the topic: "Integration policy in Germany and Kazakhstan. Comparative analysis". At this conference, Botagoz Rakisheva, Director of the Public Opinion Research Institute, Ph.D. in Sociology, made a presentation entitled "Kazakh Diaspora in Germany: Experience of Integration", based on the results of the Kazakh diaspora study in Western Europe launched by the speaker in 2005.
On September 27-28, 2018, the International Scientific and Practical Conference "On the role of self-government in strengthening the family and raising the younger generation" was held in Tashkent. On October 18-19, 2018, the Representative Office of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation in Kazakhstan organized the conference "REGIONALIZATION IN CENTRAL ASIA" in Nur-Sultan. On October 30, 2018, the Central Asian Scientific and Expert Council on Interethnic Tolerance and Public Accord of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan on the theme "Kazakhstan and Central Asia: Ethnosocial Processes and Ethnocultural Dialogue" was held in Nur-Sultan. As part of this event, Botagoz Rakisheva presented the results of the international sociological study "Turkbarometer" of the International Turkic Academy.
On November 1, 2018, the Regional Bureau for Central Asia of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation and the Museum of Remembrance of the Victims of Repression under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan held an international conference "Oral history in domestic and foreign practice: method, source, cultural and educational technologies" in Tashkent. At the conference, Botagoz Rakisheva made a presentation on the subject of "International studies using the "Oral History" methodology: the experience of Kazakhstan".
