Since 2011 Public Opinion Research Institute on demand of the Committee of Development of Languages has been carrying out sociological studies on different aspects of living of Kazakhs abroad. From the beginning of the project 9 studies were conducted: in Mongolia (2011), China (2012), Uzbekistan (2013), Russia (in 2014 in the Altai Republic and Altai region, in 2015 in Omsk and Novosibirsk regions, in 2016 in Orenburg region, in 2017 in Astrakhan region, and in 2018 in Saratov and Volgograd regions), the Kyrgyz Republic (2019). The methodology of the study includes sociological expeditions that consist of surveys of ethnic Kazakhs, in-depth and narrative interviews, and collecting photo, video data.
2019 – Sociological study on the issues of compatriots living abroad: the Kyrgyz Republic. The study was conducted on demand of the Department on Development of the interethnic relations of the Ministry of Information and Social Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The study was carried out in Issyk-Kul, Chuy regions, as well as in Bishkek, and Sokuluk district. 200 respondents were surveyed, and 50 in-depth and narrative interviews were conducted.
On the results of the study the book “Sociological and analytical study on the issues of compatriots living abroad (Kyrgyz Republic)” was developed in Kazakh and Russian languages.

2018 – Sociological study on the issues of compatriots living abroad: Saratov and Volgograd regions of the Russian Federation. The study was conducted on demand of the Committee of Public Accord of the Ministry of Social Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The study was carried out in Saratov, Volgograd regions. 400 respondents were surveyed, and 50 in-depth and narrative interviews were conducted.
On the results of the study the book “Sociological and analytical study on the issues of compatriots living abroad (Saratov, Volgograd regions of the Russian Federation)” was developed in Kazakh and Russian languages.

2017 – Sociological study on the issues of compatriots living abroad: Astrakhan region of the Russian Federation. The study was conducted on demand of the Committee for Development of Languages and Social and Political work of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The study was carried out in Astrakhan region. 411 respondents were surveyed, and 50 in-depth and narrative interviews were conducted.
On the results of the study the book “Sociological and analytical study on the issues of compatriots living abroad (Astrakhan region of the Russian Federation)” was developed in Kazakh and Russian languages.

The study was conducted on demand of the Committee for Development of Languages and Social and Political work of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The study was carried out in Omsk and Novosibirsk regions. 203 respondents were surveyed, and 50 in-depth and narrative interviews were conducted.
On the results of the study the book “Sociological and analytical study on the issues of compatriots living abroad (Novosibirsk and Omsk regions of the Russian Federation)” was developed in Kazakh and Russian languages.

The study was carried out in Tashkent city, Tashkent, Kokand, Fergana, Andizhan, and Nukus regions. 300 respondents – ethnic Kazakhs were surveyed, and 50 in-depth and narrative interviews were conducted.

2012 – Sociological study on the issue of language situation among ethnic Kazakhs living in China (XUAR). The study was conducted on demand of the Committee for Languages of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The study was carried out in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of China. 104 respondents – ethnic Kazakhs were surveyed, and 30 in-depth and narrative interviews were conducted.
On the results of the study the book “Language situation among ethnic Kazakhs living in China (XUAR) (results of complex sociological study)” was developed in Kazakh and Russian languages.
